1. All Competitions
All entries will be anonymous. Members must use their Competition Number in all competition entries instead of their names. Copyright of images must belong to the member. Entries can originate from a film camera, digital camera or flatbed scanner. They may be digitally manipulated. The use of clipart is not permitted. All competitions are open to all Society members on an equal basis.
2. Definition of Monochrome and Colour:
A monochrome image is a black and white image or one that has been modified by the addition of a single colour tone to the entire image. All other images are colour images. E.g. a black and white image that has been modified by the addition of partial colour toning or by the addition of one or more colours to any part of the image is a colour Image.
A black and white (B&W) work ranging from black/very dark grey through various shades of grey to very light grey and white is a monochrome work. A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour is also a monochrome work. However, a black and white work modified by a partial colour toning or by the addition of one or more colours becomes a colour work.
3.1 League Competitions:
There are 3 print evenings and 3 Digital Projected Image (DPI) evenings plus 1 evening which is a Panel of Three covering both Prints and DPI. The judge will be asked to select the best colour and mono images from those presented in each competition so that points can be built up to enable the trophies to be awarded as above.
Members can enter colour, mono or both for any each competition
Members can enter up to 2 entries per category in the print rounds (i.e. 2 Mono and 2 Colour = 4 entries per round) and 2 entries per category in the DPI rounds (i.e. 2 Mono plus 2 Colour = 4 entries per round). The members must rank all his/her entries sequentially in priority from 1 to 4. The Competition Secretary will reduce the numbers entered by eliminating priority 4, then 3 etc to ensure that the total submission is no larger than can be judged in one evening. The level will be announced before the judging. Entries not selected by the priority cut-off are eligible for re-entry. Unplaced entries and those modified following the suggestions of a judge may be submitted up to three times in the League regardless of the category entered or the year in which they were submitted.
A calling notice will be sent by e-mail, 3 weeks before the competition night. The hand-in deadline for entries is midnight, 2 weeks before. Prints must be given to the Competition Secretary by the deadline, as published in the Society’s programme.
3.2 Entries
